What Our Surveys Can Do...

So long as what you request does not defy the laws of nature or the Internet, we can probably accommodate you. Our surveying system has been designed with the needs of the marketing and research industry in mind and is able to provide most of the functionality of a CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interview) system.

Here are just some features available with our surveys:
Logical skips
Constant sum questions
Based questions
Versioned questions
Randomization of questions or lists
Response validation
Termination questions

We are always incorporating new features to our system, so this list is by no means complete.

All about images, animation and graphics...

You may choose to include an image or images in your survey. If so, it will be your responsibility to provide us with an electronic image that is of the size, quality, color, and format that you would like to see displayed on the screen. Here are some guidelines to follow:

  1. Electronic photographs should be provided to us with either a .jpg or .jpeg extension. This is the most common format provided on picture-cd's or digital cameras. This format is the only format which displays photographs acceptably on almost all web browsers. All other graphics should be formatted with a .gif extension. Almost all popular imaging software will export an image into this format.
  2. Images or animation cannot exceed 695 pixels in width. That is the width of the white area on our survey pages. This should rarely present a problem since an image that large would probably take an unacceptable amount of time to download to the respondent's browser. There is no height restriction.
  3. We do not impose a limit on the download size of an image. However you must keep in mind how long an image will take to download on the respondent's machine. A large number of people still use slow dial-up services to access the Internet. If your survey is only going out to corporations with T1 access speeds to the Internet, then perhaps image size is not a concern, but most of the time, it is.
  4. The most common request for a graphic we receive is to include a corporate logo on the survey. That is not a problem as long as you can provide an electronic logo that will look OK in the white area of a survey page. Sometimes copying the logo from your company's website will not work. If that's all you have, we'll post the image on a blank page for you to review. If it looks acceptable then we'll include it. If not, we'll discuss other options with you.
  5. We can only change the background color of our surveys by special request and at additional cost. If we have agreed to change the color for you, you must provide the replacement color to us as a hexadecimal value. We cannot try various shades of color until we get the right one.

We realize that not everyone knows the ins and outs of graphics on the Web. Just be sure to mention to us that you will be using graphics in your survey, and we will help you decide on the best way to incorporate them. Even though we are not a graphics-oriented operation, our staff is familiar with Adobe Photoshop in a PC environment and SurvCity.com can provide some basic imaging services as needed. Graphics work is billed additionally at an hourly rate. If your survey is graphics-heavy, we recommend using the services of professionals familiar with Internet graphics. Retailers like Kinko's, Staples, Office Depot and the like all provide appropriate services.
